What numbers did you get from your blood test?
Please Google fruits high in potassium and avid them for a while.
Another starting point can be food intake control and regular exercise.
What are your other numbers? Blood pressure and Blood glucose?

Have also been trying and succeeding to loose weight not by dieting but changing lifestyle and eating habits. Have been overweight most of my life but having lost over 2 stone in a couple of months never felt better. Try using myfitnesspal, it's an app for mobiles or pads. There are some great links and the food diary which is easy to use gets you in good habits and will automatically increase your calories allowed from any exercise you do even walking. It's a great motivator.
Cook from scratch if you can, and make your diet varied and natural, although you may need to limit certain foods.

Avoid sugar and 'white' foods as much as possible (white bread, breakfast cereals etc), as they affect cholesterol levels badly and cause weight gain.
