Following my latest visit to the lipid clinic, my total cholesterol which was 13 about 20 years ago is now down to 4 and my consultant was very pleased, and said it was now under control. Yay!

Cholesterol Control
Very well done. Now could you please let us know how you achieved this result in 20 years. Food control and exercise or medication?. Thanks.
Yes, all of those and taking different medication till I got it right. I have Type 3 Hyperlipidaemia. It is now very well controlled with Fenofibrate, but as a result of that, I now have CKD! You win some and lose some!
Was the CKD the direct result of the fenofibrates?
Also is this CKD age related in the sense that your kidneys get less efficient as you get older.
I read something interesting about health professionals sometimes confusing the natural process of aging, with disease, almost like you have to be kept in a permanent state of youthful bodily health for your own good.
Bit of both really, the kidneys get less efficient as you get older ( I am 70), but it's all related to weight loss, at which I'm not so good but it has remained steady.
No sure as I only had them verbally (to come in writing) but both figures were well within the recommended level.
Well done Hansi. But have you had an examination of your arteries. Mine are clogged up in places with plaque, but my cholesterol is, and has been, low for many years. So it's not all about how low the cholesterol readings are. Get a ultra scan and peripheral artery disease check if you really want to know the true facts. And that goes for all those congratulating themselves about their low blood test readings Best of luck.
If you mean an angiogram, I had one about two years ago. A bit of furring up but no surgery needed, put on Bisoprolol.
