The men who made us spend.

Just watched the latest in the current Jaques Perretti series.

An expose of the good folk who would like to separate us from our money on the basis of our fears:

bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01zxm9b

If interested, Jaques Perretti has done a lot of expose and debunking of various manipulations preying on our fears. Really incisive and a particular segment on statins.

Look him up on the tube for his other stuff, or if link is suspect get it on IPlayer.

I watch a lot of his stuff too. Fortunately I don't spend like that - nothing to spend, But I can never come to terms with the "gotta have" culture. If it works, why ditch it? Like the guy who queued for days for a ipad that was a different colour - did the same stuff, just a different colour. I went into a museum of electricity and my washing machine was there. Pleased with that. it had to go when it broke. no parts and the technicians couldn't fix it, nut at 30 years I had my money's worth. I'm only on my third cooker. The last one went with built in obsolescence. It would cost more to repair and again they could not get the parts as it had been out of production for so long.

As a PS to that. Those of us on this site and other health sites would do well to look at "food unwrapped" type programs. a lot of myths get busted

Another PS. I'm now a big fan of Michael Mosely - another myth buster, but I wouldn't dare try some of the things he gets up to :)

I saw the first episode so I will definitely watch the second one now I know there is something about statins on it. A very revealing series that definitely makes you see things in a completely new light.

Baffles me as well - copy and paste usually does it, but am aware of the issue hence the caveat!
