I love chilli con carne and spaghetti bolognaise. I buy the extra lean mince from Sainsburys and biryani rice. Is this the best rice for carbs? I don't eat it more than twice a week -- just wondering if there's a healthier rice to eat......

RICE/SPAGHETTI
Basmati is the one that is slow to digest and hence doesn't spike blood sugar as much as the other varieties.
ohhh -- I totally forgot about the horse :((
I make 'ribbons' of courgettes instead of using spaghetti.
Quinoa is also a good alternative.
I like Tilda Basmati rice and Sainsbury do sell it, definitely wash until water clear before cooking. Do not overcook.
Courgette ribbons are delicious, again mix with non- egg pasta, brown. If you miss pasta.
Brown mince in a hot pan no oil, then drain fat, I also add soya or quorn to the mince as it reduces fat levels.
I have just done a recipe for butter chicken, my family named it I can't believe it's butter chicken. If you want it I will give u my blog .
Enjoy
Always buy your meat from your local butcher who will let you know where he sources his meat. It tastes better too! As to the yogurt, before I stopped eating dairy I used to get organic yogurt from Yeo - it is full fat yes, but it is not full of preservatives and additives like the"low fat" types! The black rice, whole grain rice types are better for you but avoid the ready prepared, pre packed part cooked sort that have all sorts of things done to them before they get to you. Cooked rice can be very dangerous and that is why it is made to order in one of the most sterile factories in the UK where workers look more like surgeons with white coats, masks and rubber gloves!
In Sainsbury's there's lean mince and extra lean. I always get the extra lean as the butchers here say "it's just mince" -- no extra lean. They say it's a "good mince" but look at me a bit odd when I ask if it's extra lean.
I'm not worrying about horse -- I just want extra lean mince. This surely is healthier than full fat mince or whatever you call it??
extra lean mince is packed full of protein -- the same as full fat mince. So surely it's healthier to cut out all the fat?!
