More out cry over use of statins

Almost on a daily basis we are seeing the tide turn against statins and saturated fat.
Sugar and refined carbohydrate are now firmly in the firing line. See today's 'Mail' for your free guide:
'How much sugar is in your food.'
It's only been 40 years since Professor John Yudkin published "Pure, White and Deadly, how sugar is killing us"! Change comes very slowly unfortunately.
There's also a big piece in today's " Daily Telegraph" about the low fat foods high in sugar with a commentary by Dr Aseem Malhotra.
In the last few months it seems the medical profession are finally questioning the food and drug industry.

Can someone please explain to me why Stroke patients are prescribed statins?
Statins lower Cholesteral which in the ' twilight zone' causes heart disease.
I always thought and please correct me if I'm wrong, that a stroke is the result of a blood clot? So how do statins help?

sonyajba my stroke was caused by my cartoroid artery in my right side of neck narrowing of the arterys .it was classed as a ischemic stroke in other words mini stroke
Hi I had just the same as you, TIA , arterial blockage, after a week in hospital, first 3 days unable to walk, speech inpaired etc, thankfully made a full recovery, with fantastic care from NHS nursing and phsysio help, I also could not understand why I was prescribed STATINS, my COL at that time was 5.1 not high by any guide lines. After 9 months of various types and strengths I decided enough was enough, now with change of diet, and lifestyle change COL is 4.1, and lost over a stone in 4 months, I now eat very low carbs high natural fat, no food with preservatives just natural full fat , grass fed meat, organic fed chickens from local producers, fish from sea not farmed, it does cost a little more but I want to live as long as possible it as got to be worth it, also lots of excersize.
The point of this essay is the medics and NHS along with food industry have got a lot to answer for , also big PARMA industry.
Lets all try to make a big change, lifes too precious.
Allyg.
Ps I also take COQ -10. and omega 3,6,9,
