After the discussions on type II diabetes, I was reminded of this article theguardian.com/lifeandstyl... about a man who cured his diabetes by adopting a low calorie diet. Obviously not something to try without talking to your doctors if you've got heart problems, but the 5-2 fasting diet is also meant to help lower your blood sugar levels overall and is a bit less drastic because you just eat low cal 2 days a week.

A drastic solution! But if it works, it works.
One suggestion from the 5:2 man is that, if you can't do the "fasting" phase, then cutting down on carbohydrates will cut down on the insulin, and achieve similar results to the 5:2 diet.
