Hi sandra,

How were you trying to get it down?

If medication you should see some results in around a month.

Lifestyle changes will take longer - and it can be really disheartening to go and only see a minor reduction. I would suggest three months.

Cholesterol Check? If there is high cholesterol in the body I do not know how the body indicate the cholesterol is high!

Starting point. The reason for blood test? Age? BMI? TV programme?

If the doctor requested for blood test, the doctor should explain the reason for blood test first.

A week later test results. Again the doctor will be able to explain all four numbers, total ratio, LDL, HDL and triglyceride. Two options available, life style change or medication.

Next test-- again the doctor will request, in three months or six months.

Cholesterol itself is not dangerous,it the problems it can cause throughout life,i.e heart problems,artery/circulation and others. A healthy lifestyle is a MUST with or without Cholesterol problems and it can reduce cholesterol significantly,i will not go into Diet details as they are freely avalable at the NHS site/Diabetes UK and many other reputable sites.

Give yourself a few more months. Dietary changes are slower than medication for obvious reasons, its not so invasive. the body will take some time to adjust and with extra exercise and and change of lifestyle you should see significant results in about another 4-5 months. You haven't said how "high" your C is. Just eat a natural diet, cut down on the carbs and sugars and don't worry too much about saturated fats and enjoy your food. It is a lifestyle change not a diet. Best wishes
