Hi all, just continuing my diarising on all thats happened of late.

I've had to switch off for the last few days. I reached a point of genuine overload.

not just that, but a lack of any control too. I have an appointment with the surgeon on the 12th. Not that the NHS told me..... I am wondering how they think I would have known to be there ....

Not that I am complaining, I am glad I have a follow up, but I am not a dog to be whistled at. I don't come running on demand. If I need to be somewhere, tell me .....

I got so worn out by running around after other peoples needs, that today has been an enforced day off sick under the banner of stress, or more truthfully, outright exhaustion.

Which is true.

And then came the news I guessed may happen, just didn't expect it today. Dave Myers of the Hairy Bikers has passed from cancer.

That has finally knocked whatever stuff I thought was left in me, out of me.

I have to say I was hugely upset when I heard.

But then I realised something.

I do still have the joy of his successfully getting back on the motorcycle. It will always be the case that he managed to do so.

My hands are no longer swollen, things are improving.

And I am starting to want to cook again. Its taking a lot of effort, but we are heading now I think the way out of this post op cancer limbo fatigue.

So while my thoughts are very much with Mr Myers family, friends and fellow biker Si King right now, I am also thinking of Dave's example.

Get back on that bike!

Whatever the bike is, whether it be cooking, or something else you can't do, keep at it. You may get there sooner than you know.

Thanks Dave, and wherever you are, I hope the roads are forever traffic free for you....

CB

Hi CB ,good to see your back, you've just opened up a new goal for me, haven't been out on my bike for a couple of years now, just went down the garage and glanced at the old girl, still looks the part even though she's been almost forgotten about in many ways due to the dreaded cost etc ,but now thinking this year needs to be the year I get my butt back out on the bike(unfortunately it's taken something likes of Myers passing)one less biker butty to grace our roads to get me thinking about the old two wheel Shara bang, anyway best wishes, steve

God I love how level headed you are it's absolutely amazing, all your stress and you can still bring my mood up(not with your struggles)just been an absolute god send to be able to have contact with someone who don't judge and has such a calming manner,if I'm able to help in any way please don't hesitate to contact me as I'd live to be able to give back (even a little of the support you have shown)

calming and level headed? Think at times I'm the family choas goblin. While it is expected that one in two will get cancer atsome stage,do I get a normal cancer? Oh no...why not go for one which is one in a million type rarity .... why stick at average ?! :-)

Glad being here helps you. That's entirely the point, and we each draw some strength in some way. Different for everyone how you draw that strength, but whatever works, works!

Such was Dave Myer's talent for connecting with his viewers (and Si' too), we all felt like we knew him, so it feels today as if we have lost a friend. I was also so upset earlier to read the news. Yes, we knew he'd been critically unwell, but he kept his privacy to the end with the details, which is something to be respected too.

I'm pleased to read CB that you're finding a little of your mojo again, small steps etc, but long may that last for you.

Sending much love to you, and to all those who have been touched by cancer, including close friends and family. 🩷

The funny thing is Mave, my mojo have never really gone. Id just forgotten how to access it. I think sometimes you can be so overwhelmed, you forget the basics.

I should know this as an IT engineer, there is a tried and tested rule. It is this.

Keep it simple, stupid!

Ie, dont over think, over complicate……

It took the shock of this news to remind me. Never forget these lessons, they are hard learned!!
