Just wanting to come on & say Hi, I am new here..not really sure what to say/what not to say😬I have Alopecia totalaris. I have had it for the last 2 yrs. Its affecting me more now as I hate the thought of going out without a wig or hat. Very few people know I have the condition so I just kind of never address it. Its probably not the best way to be.

I want to be able to take my 2 little ones on holiday & not care about sitting there & having a striking resemblence to humpty dumpty🙈🤦‍♀️

Do i cover up some or most of the anxiety up with humour....yes its one of the only ways i know how

Thanks for reading x

Hi EmmyLou88 Welcome to the Changing Faces community. Thank you for your post, and for sharing about the things that have felt challenging since your diagnosis and how you have been feeling more recently.

It sounds like things have been feeling hard for you, particularly in social situations and I understand that wearing a hat, or a wig has helped you to feel more confident in navigating these. I can see you mentioned wanting to feel less self-conscious in the future and I hope you find this a safe space to meet and get support from others with a visible difference.

Take Care
