A colleague retires, and its a big loss ....

Today's been a day. A colleague and director retired. He's done his bit for the company and it's his time for a break. Well deserved I will say, without doubt.

Its been a blow because I have had some cool chats with him over the years on the subject of my lumps and bumps. When eejits were out staring, or making comments, his thoughtfulness hit home at times, just when I needed it, just to check I was OK and whether I needed anything.

It always felt like I had a moral support there, just in case my own defences lapsed.

And while I never needed to draw on his wisdom, that it was there was so appreciated.

Going to miss the banter he brought to the office, and that morale boosting crutch. Knowing where your support wells are is so important.

Sad day. But the donuts were awesome! :-)
