Hi All,
I nearly missed Friday altogether this week. It's been an ongoing thing every day for some reason, in that the calendar's remained a day ahead of me. By writing this, maybe now my head will catch up with the calendar.
I've woken to some minor flash flooding today, and I'm watching fast moving traffic sending up waves of water on to the pavement. I've got an irrational urge to put on wellies and go and splash through it myself, but I do know that, unlike when I was five, I'd only last until the first wave of cold water hit me! I don't think I'll actually be going out today at all. I hope that worse flooding hasn't had really bad effects on any of you.
How's everyone feeling generally right now? I must admit I'm feeling a bit stuck. Of course I want to stay as safe as possible but on the other hand I'm feeling nervous of being stuck indoors with little to look forward to for the next few months to come. And I feel quite bad in even confessing to that, when I know that so many people, for lots of reasons, have to do this every winter.
I've been compiling a list of ideas for things to do to get me through and I wonder if any of you has had similar thoughts and how you plan to get through what' s going to be a challenging winter?
I thought I'd share a video with you today, given the overnight rain. It's an old video of Rosetta Tharpe's rendition of 'Didn't it rain'. It comes from a concert in 1964 in Manchester. The weather didn't dampen her enthusiasm at all!
If you don't know Rosetta, she was a gospel singer with a fabulous voice, amazing guitar skills and is often recognised as the grandmother of rock 'n roll!
To play the video, please DON'T click on the button in the middle of it, or it may not work. Click instead on the white title at the top left of its screen.
See you on Monday and please continue to all stay safe! ☔️😄👍🙏🌈☔️
