Here we are on Monday morning again after quite a wet and windy weekend here in the south of England.
As we start our new week, I'm sending a warm welcome to newcomers to our Caring Community and I'm sure you'll find some support and help from our lovely existing members who have such a wealth of caring experience.
My weekend started, sadly, with a weepy conversation with my sister who is struggling at the moment. Her husband with mixed dementia has reached the point where he's forgetting who my sister is, and of course it's really upsetting for her. In more normal times I'd have jumped on a train and gone and spent some time with her, but as for so many other people, plans aren't so easily made at the moment. We had a long chat anyway, and she felt a bit better when we said our 'goodbyes'.
Sunday was nicer and my husband and I went to visit my daughter for the day. It was quite odd taking a motorway journey after all these months, but it was trouble-free. Apart from a good old catch-up and a lovely meal together, the purpose of the visit was to meet her new British Blue shorthair kitten, Chelsea who was her birthday present from her partner this year.
What a little sweetie, very cheeky and with a lovely personality, helped along, I'm sure, by being spoiled to bits.
Back into routine this morning, and I wonder what the week will bring to us all.
Take care and I hope it's as pleasant as it can possibly be, both for you and those you care for. 🙏
Hello Callendersgal, I’d just like to say how sorry I am to hear of your sisters struggles at the moment. It must be heartbreaking for her. I hope she can get support in her area and maybe some respite care.
That beautiful cat is really gorgeous. Thank you for sharing the cute photos. I’m glad you had a lovely day.
We’re ok here and looking forward to some sunshine hopefully soon.
Have a wonderful week everyone and look forward to catching up sometime in the near future.
Thanks so much sassy59. It's going to get more difficult for her from here on in because they are real soulmates and it's hitting her hard. I'm hoping she'll at least be able to get someone to sit with him from time to time, to give her some breathers.
Oh that kitty is adorable. My daughter just texted to say she'd eaten chicken and rice for dinner, followed by Angel Delight for dessert! And topped it off with some babybel cheese! I've had lots of cats over the years but never one with such a human taste in food. Her vet will not be pleased!
Glad to hear you are both OK and lets hope the weather will cheer up again shortly! Take care xxxx👍😊
It’s so sad for your sister and I’m thinking of her.
I laughed at your daughter’s kitten eating human food because our cat Tessa enjoyed all sorts of food including custard, chicken, prawns and cream. She was part human....lol. The vet will be apoplectic!
Take care, the sun is shining. Enjoy your day. Xxxxx❤️😀🌈
