Quotation for Thursday 30th April 2020

Hi everyone,

I'm a huge fan of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. I love the colourful vibrancy of her work but also admire her struggle against all odds to continue to paint. Stricken in childhood with polio, she was then badly injured in a bus crash and spent her life in awful pain whilst producing what I find to be the most amazing work, much of it portraits and still life. Her life was filled with controversy. She was avant-garde and had a passionate on/off relationship with her fellow artist husband, Diego Rivera, who was equally controversial.

It's all a story of life lived to capacity, and of a person who just got on with it, despite all adversity. A real survivor. Which is why I've chosen her as my inspiration today.

Speaking of life she said: "Beauty and Ugliness are a mirage, because others end up seeing what's inside of us".

Do you agree?

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning Callendersgal, l too am a Frida Kahlo fan. Such an inspirational lady and great artist.

I do agree with the quote but often think people see what they want to see or what we want them to see inside or out. Just my take on things, I’m sure others will have a different interpretation.

Have a lovely day. Xxx 😘🌈

Hi Callendersgal, I too love the work of Frida. She is such an inspirational figure. I like the fact that she carried on with her life and created such colourful paintings despite all of her many set backs.

I hope you and all of the members here are managing to cope during these strange times.❤
