Hi, I’m trying to find more information about my mum caring for my Nan.

She is currently receive care from both my mum every day (personal, home and feeding care) how do I arrange my mum to receive care credit, Carers allowance. My Nan doesn’t receive any of the items listed on the gov.co.uk website.

I feel a little lost with all this. Help would be appreciated

Hello Bellbh,

Welcome to this very caring community. Can I suggest you have a look on this website and they have contact details if you want to speak to someone for advice relating to your situation?

carersuk.org/help-and-advic...

Also, to see if you can get a needs assessment for your Nan, this link might help. They may provide a weekly payment to support her needs.

nhs.uk/conditions/social-ca...

There are also some links/phone number for Age UK on the above page if you need to speak to someone for assistance.

Any of our other users in a similar situation able to offer any advice and support to Bellbh?

All the best,

MAS Nurse and Moderator

Hi Bellbh, I really just wanted to say 'hi' and welcome you to this community. I see that MAS_Nurse has already responded with pretty much what I'd have said.

That feeling of helplessness around benefits and care is really common and it can be a tiresome process to get what your Nan is probably entitled to.

So I'd just add, 'don't give up'. The help is out there but money and advice is so stretched these days that you have to be ready to persist and not take 'no' for an answer.

Best of luck and best wishes to you. We'd love to hear how you get on so please feel welcome to come back and post again, whether for further advice or just to let us know how it's all going.

Hi, just to say welcome to the community. I think you have had a very informative response from the MAS nurse so i can't really add anything. However, I have found age UK very helpful and in my area they put you in touch with someone who can help you with completing the forms. It sounds like your nan might be entitled to attendance allowance. Good luck and please let us know how you get on.
