Changing Medication

I know it's very early days but I've just been taken off Pergolide tablets as they are no longer available and o put on Pramipexole. Pergolide worked brilliantly for me but last night I got no sleep whatsoever and my legs have twitched throughout the day today. Has anyone else experienced this and does it settle down

Hello Kazsum,

It's difficult when you have to change medication because it is no longer available. Pramipexole appears to have been around for some time so hopefully it will begin to work for you. I'm sure our members here will share if they have had experience of this drug.

From your post it appears that you have Restless Legs Syndrome so I wonder if it would also help you to look in the community which is dedicated to that condition here on the Health Unlocked site. healthunlocked.com/search/p...

Take care and let us know how you get on.

Hi Kazsum

Chris had horrendous restless legs and the neurologist suggested Clonazepam. This has worked and now normally sleeps well and is comfortable in the day too.

Hope this helps

Anne

Hi Kazsum,

I see that you've had a very useful responses from MAS_Nurse and AnneandChris. Unfortunately I've not had any contact with either of these drugs, but as MAS_Nurse said, I do know it can be very disconcerting to change drugs and then not be sure whether the replacement is working properly or not.

So I hope that you've had a little bit of reassurance as well as some good advice, and that things will settle down for you, but, if not, do go back to your doctor with your concerns.

Hi I wonder what's going on as my daughter too has to change her medication which is an anti psychotic due to an ingredient not being available any more. I am very concerned as like you, she had been very well for many years on her present medication so I wonder why it is very soon going to be unavailable.
