Vascular dementia
There are all sorts of different reactions to this illness. Do go onto the websites for dementia help, there are quite a few.
Thnx ever since she started getting hallucinations i started to check on the possibility that it was dementia of some kind..the first thought was the medication she was taking...but as we live in sheltered housing one of our residents started to have the same symptoms about 6months ago..and it was so bad how quickly he became aggressive and said people where talking about him.exactly the things my wife is now saying..also she had a stroke 3weeks ago..this has not affected limbs in any way...but was told it was a slight bleed on the brain..since then her symptoms have got much worse....thankfully my daughter is a manager of a care home for the mentally handicapped and has been a godsend to me..she is most concerned about my welfare and off course I'm more concerned about my wife...it's nice to know such good advice is out there...to say I was unprepared for this is an understatement..thanx everybody who replies
My husband was the same,he has had several bleeds on the brain which is a TIA. He was put on medication and has been a different person since. It is now 4years since he was diagnosed with vascular dementia.
Lately he has started shaking a lot and we see a specialist next week,
They think it might be Parkinsonism . We are hoping to go on holiday to
Madeira next week, as we have done over the past years. We always go where he has been before,he cannot remember unless we show him photos. Once he is there he remembers. Hope this helps
Hello Tone54, yes for many that is completely normal. Your doctor can help with the anxiety. My mother in law has vascular dementia and Alzheimer’s. She used to be very anxious and was given an anti depressant which helped.
I hope your dear wife does get all the help she needs. Please come and chat whenever you want to, we’re here for you. Xxxx
Dementia is a umbrella name for all types, it isn’t classed as two different names, I have vascula dementia, I went through the confusing names lol.
There are many names, as in Alzheimer’s, Vascular, Mixed, and many more, so when asked I say I have Vascular and so on. It is a horrendous thing for the sufferers and thier families.
I have Vascular Dementia also, people are different and they do experiences things like you say, things like this are wide spread. I’m early on set Vascular Dementia and I was diagnosed in 2014; and fortunately my Dementia isn’t running away with me YET, there is a lot of places to get some help and are you over in the East of UK because there is more help in that area or give the Alzheimer’s society, they are brilliant and they have most of the answers.
It’s not just those who are diagnosed with it, it pulls people apart heart breaking, the carers are our gardian Angels.
Philip.
I’m not yet 60 but I’ve been cursed from me being 50 years old.
Nice reply s above but I would also suggest you keep a note of things happening so you can tell GP and also you can see if there are any triggers for your wife will will help you to support here I know it's hard but except and ask for any help support you can get.
