Local Councils run schemes for carers grants. My Council, Wakefield, provide a grant to carers, I think it's about £200 called My Time so a carer can use them money to have a day out, towards a break away, a new hobby or towards anything that will help a carer to have a break (beauty treatment, new hairdo etc). Some Councils have stopped these grants due to cut backs. Contact your local Carers Association who will tell you if your local Council runs the scheme
