Can I ask does the carer always get paid separately or does the money go to the person being cared for my mother needs a career but doesn't have a bank account she wants one of my sister's to be her carer

The money should go directly to you, it is taken from the one you care for but the person you are caring for has to agree because the money goes to them in the form of disability benefits, maybe have a chat with, CAB or contact the DWP and ask for welfare rights person.

Also, the DWP wants carers to put in 35 hours a week or they won't get it.

Because I live separate from my estranged wife and they kept asking lol, it is doable but it's not easy for such a dismal payment.

So my sister would have to attend to mam's needs for 35 hours per week? What would her duties include cleaning housework shopping collecting medication making meals ? These are the things Mam needs help with she's 87

My husband is my carer but his duties are mainly for personal care, showering, dressing etc. Also making meals, checking I take my medication, making sure I don't fall and things like that.

Of course he does household duties as well but he is not strictly paid for it, he just happens to live with me.

Thanks Bluebell 99 as my sister lives close to Mam she does the following collects medication gets shopping pays bills visits Mam sometimes 3-4 times a day every day except Sunday other times Mam can't get a hold of her at all . she usually starts her visits around 9 or 10 and can pop in and out until around 4-5

When I visit I cook and clean we both try to take Mam out when we can.
