Expensive pa's.?
Care like that is always expensive and I think some areas are more expensive than others (supply and demand I suppose). Can I suggest that you check with the local Social Services team for him and phone a few local agencies, just to make sure.
This sounds very expensive to me. Both my parents need care and they have a live-in carer for £90 per day plus £15 for the agency. We only need 2 carers and they alternate- a month on and a month off. They are both brilliant and very caring and my parents have consistency. They do everything for my parents, taking them out, to appointments, cooking and cleaning.
Wow that sounds more like it rather amazing would work out they are working for only 3.75 pounds an hr!!
Do your carers stay 24hrs that's 735 ish hell of a lot cheaper.
This gentleman is waking at night but prob that can be handled better with medication.
I didn't want to get involved but this chap can not surly be expected to pay 3 grand s week
Yes, the total per week is nearly £900, much cheaper than residential care for 2 people! Much nicer for them too. The carers do live in for the whole month. They will respond to emergencies in the night but don't have to stay awake at night. They also have about 2 hours off in the daytime. I think it is a great option for now, and I'm hoping they won't need to change this arrangement and can spend the rest of their days at home.
I would definitely have Adult Social Services come and assess that because it sounds as though he is paying an hourly rate for care when there may be better alternatives due to the amount of support he needs. They can probably point you in the right direction in terms of what service he needs and some local providers.
If you have money you have to pay..ie good pension.
