Hi, I am new to this site. I have been having buzzing in my left ear for months and got dizzyness some mornings (not often) when waking. Only on a period over a few months. My gp thought labyrinthitis. I kept getting it a few times, so was referred to an ENT consultant. Had two hearing tests and left ear showed a diff to the right in some tones. After seeing him again he felt I may have menieres. However, I do having buzzing in the left ear, but my dizzy feeling then feels off for a few days. But not as the menieres site says vertigo for a few hours and then goes. I do not feel like that at all. I just having buzzing and a dizzy headaches for a few days and feel off colour. Wonder if any one can give advise. Thankyou. Am seeing the consultant in 6 weeks. No meds given. Just told me to cut out salt as a build up of fluid in inner ear.

I think docs find it difficult to diagnose these dizzy things. Could be BPPV (look it up on the NHS website and on the website of Brain &Spine Foundation.)

Often the docs give you exercises to do, so that the brain learns to follow what your eyes tell and and not your ears. You’ll find the exercises on the brain etc site - only do the ones where you sit or stand and move your head or eyes. This sometimes works a treat. For the dizziness.

As far as tinnitus goes - the buzzing - this could disappear or become more remote and you learn to deal with the vertigo. I’m surprised you weren’t prescribed simple pills to help with the dizziness. But you can ask your pharmacist to suggest something.

If the tinnitus is more problematic then go to the British tinnitus association website for information.

Hope this helps.

As Happyrosie says I too think it's a difficult one for doctors. Whilst I can manage my tinnitus, I get Hyperacusis too and dizziness, which are very challenging at times with my job.

The dizziness is mild. Still I reported it to my doctor about a 1 year to 18 months ago and had blood tests. I had a scan and they couldn't identify anything. My blood test came back and I was then diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. After a lifestyle change, I've now reversed the diabetes to prediabetes, but still get dizziness.

So, I'm going through the same thing again and I've been politely persistent with my doctor the last few months and had several more blood tests. They've been fantastic.

I hope it goes well and good luck with the ENT.
