Sensate 2 and tinnitus

Have you heard of the anxiety reducing device called Sensate 2? It claims to relax the valgus nerve through relaxing music and low frequency sounds. The device vibrates on your chest and through bone conduction,it sends low frequency sounds to your ears and your body. Do you think this might be harmful to the ear or cause tinnitus as low frequency sounds are thought to be bad for the ear?sciencemag.org/news/2014/09...

Hi Ligoluna - thank you for posting.

I think you've hit upon a salient point at the end of your post - .."low frequency sounds are thought to be bad for the ear?" That's still a hypothesis, rather than any kind of evidence to base decisions upon (it also dates from 2014, and the authors don't appear to have followed this line of research beyond this paper, per a glance at the PubMed database - pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/)

I've looked at the Sensate 2 device. I personally feel that someone might learn to relax equally well by working with a sympathetic counsellor or taking up a gentle yoga or meditation practice, but those are not necessarily options which are accessible for everybody.
