Does the Covid vaccine affect your Tinnitus?

When i take certain antibiotics it amplifies the Tinnitus by at least 3 or 4 times. After i stop the meds the T usually eases up in 3-4 days. I was thinking about getting the vaccine. But i thought that maybe it would do the same as the antibiotics and make the T worse, possibly even for long term. If there is anything worse than actually having the Covid it is having Tinnitus every day of your life. So, has anybody with T taken the vaccine? If so, did it affect your tinnitus?

Hi Jd,I had the Astra Zeneca vaccine on 13th March - it had no effect on my tinnitus whatsoever. Go for it! I did, however, have a sore arm, a mild headache, and chills for 24hrs.

I have had AstraZeneca , and I’ve not had any thing other than sore arm and tiredness for 2days.

Hi, I posted 3 days ago about this if you want to check the response I got. I had my first AstraZeneca vaccine on the 17th February and my tinnitus definitely worsened. It has gradually eased this week after a crescendo on Monday and I'm hoping that it stays that way. I had had my second dose of the vaccine yesterday and, although it is early days, so far there is no adverse effect.I do know that some who have caught Covid and others with long Covid have tinnitus now from the data that has been gathered. I do think, however, that catching the virus runs the risk of far more serious problems.

Just realised that you are in the USA where the AstraZeneca vaccine is, I believe, not being used so my reply may not be helpful. I do not know, however, what the incidence of tinnitus is with the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

Astra zeneca for me no spike in T. Got covid last year and T shot through roof ! Settled down after a while though. Get the vaccine what ever spike your unlikely to get will be temporary.

AstraZeneca jab for me, it didn’t affect my T at all. A sore arm for two days was the only side affect and that was very mild.

Hi everyone. I no every ones T is different. 100% I understand that. I got my jab last Saturday 27th March. I’m in Scotland. My T has been so so loud. I don’t no if it’s because of jab or it was because I was so stressed out going for it and was so worked up and being in a car as passenger. Stress and anxiety makes my T worse. I’m glad I got the jab. When you do go for it I no this is easier said than done, please try and stay calm your in and out in no time. I’m scared of needles that’s why I was so stressed out. I was going to come on here before my jab to ask the same question “will jab effect my T”. I have chronic migraines with tinnitus and sore head after jab might have got my T loud. I’m just glad in protected and my T really loud is something I need to get it back down again. It’s so so loud my white noise it isn’t catching my T to bring it down. Thank you everyone for being here for old and new sufferers.

I’m sorry to hear that it is worse. I hope it will eventually get better. Hang in there and please keep us posted on how you do.

I have tinnitus in my left ear only. While waiting at the surgery (to check there was no anaphylactic reaction) directly after receiving the Pfizer vaccine, I got a momentary strange almost whistling sound that seemed to travel from left ear to right. The tinnitus in my left then sounded louder then previously & has remained so since unfortunately. (I have hashimoto’s & take thyroxine btw.) I was just looking to see if anyone else had had a similar reaction when I came across your post. I also of course cannot rule out the fact that it may have been the result of stress; though I didn’t consider myself to feel too anxious at the time. However I do not regret getting the vaccination. I don’t feel we’ve a lot of choice considering the possible alternative.

I have had Moderna vaccinations. I think my tinnitus is actually a little better. Perhaps it's the stress of the last year that has made it worse. The only medication I can take to help me sleep is zolpidem tartrate (aka Ambien).

HiI started with T a few days after my 2nd vaccine , we have a family history of ear problems & strangely enough my 2 sisters also experienced buzzing in the ear after the vaccine. Mine has been much worse with full scale loud bells ringing driving me mental to the panic point , after taking sleeping tablet last night it is not as bad today . Still can’t help thinking has the vaccine caused this ? Anyone else had similar issues ?
