Tinnitus Week is fast approaching, which is when we go all out to get tinnitus in the news and in the media, focusing on a single issue.
This year, the theme will be isolation, as we know that people with tinnitus can feel isolated because of the condition, whether that is feeling nobody understands, or missing social events because they are too noisy.
We need people - people like you - to share their story about how tinnitus affects them. It would be nice if we could show a positive end to the story - for example, people feeling less isolated because of the forum <big grin> but what's really important is showing the impact tinnitus can have.
If you'd like to be involved - and the scale of what you do is up to you - please send me a message or email me at nic@tinnitus.org.uk.
Thanks a lot!

Is there an information pack I can deliver to our Doctors' practice - one of the doctors is a sufferer and although she has a masker she says she doesn't think it creates a good impression to remove it whenever she has to use her stethoscope! At least there is sympathy there and she says the BTA is great. The Caterham Medical Centre, Surrey.
We do have information for GPs, berry76 - if you send your details to me, I can arrange a pack to come out to you - either send your details via messaging here, or to nic@tinnitus.org.uk.
If anyone else would like a pack to take to their GP surgery, do let me know!
Ye people think that because of hearing loss that the world is a silent place. Far from it with the continual pneumatic drill that don’t relent. Like for many it is a pain in butt that has to be accepted as its part of everyday life for some. Stressful? Yep but it has to be accepted otherwise would drive a person to insanity. If the government would put something towards research to try and find a cure or something to alleviate it then I’m sure for many it would be money well spent.
I hope the government will address this. The reduction of money spent on stress related problems would compensate the spend. Whether there is a cure I am not sure of but treatment offered currently is pretty poor. Merely trying to mask the noise often makes the problem worse and this really is all there is that’s offered. I tried a couple of times and afterwards the tinnitus was louder. Also many gps just don’t accept this condition as a problem as for many it’s not exactly life threatening but sure does make life hard at times
Yes we can send a pack - I've made a note of your address and then deleted it, as it's not a good idea to put personal identifying information on a public forum - however nice people here are!
