Hyperacusis

Hi, my name is Sid Tasl. My wife was diagnosed with both tinnitus and hyperacusis a few months ago, and it's seriously affecting her quality of life. The hyperacusis is a bigger problem for her than the tinnitus. Does anyone have experience with this condition please? Thanks.

Hi, yes I had both a few months ago, still have T. The hypercausius does ease in time, tell yr wife to try not to get too upset by it, though thats easier said than done, as its horrible. Eventially though that will improve. Mine was from a serious sinus infection. T is eading a bit. Hope this helps, hxx

Hi, I have tinnitus over a year and hyperacusis came a month or so after tinnitus. The hyperacusis does ease and eventually will go away. The more we panic about noise the worse it gets,I no its not easy but try and stay calm.listen to pink noise, it will help.

Things are OK, thanks, but she spends most of her time in the house. Even going for lunch is a chore, because we normally have to ask the restaurant to turn the sound down, and we try to go at times that are less busy (e.g. between 2 and 3 pm). How are you coping with your hyperacusis now?

Hi,my hyperacusis is completely gone,still have up and down tinnitus but hyperacusis gone,it will fade for your wife aswel, it does get better.the problem is you scan for sounds at the start.

Hey, ive got hearing loss, tinnitus and hyperacusis and labrithitus, I feel the hearing loss to be easiest to deal with....wtf...

Just need to give yourself time!!
