I woke 1 morning with a pulsating noise, 18 months ago now, had an MRI scan and a hearing test at my GP which was all fine. I have tried some anti depressant medication which didn't help. I find myself which headaches, stiff neck, vision blurred on occasions when driving. Sometimes I get a sharp pain in my neck which lasts only a second and then disappears but my tinnitus is present just about everyday, pulsating away in 1 ear. I can also lean my head back and make it louder, squeezing under my eyes across my cheeks makes it louder also, this can't be normal. Can all this be caused by stress, tension anxiety or another medical reason. Today is a bad day but they nearly all are now.
Any advise would be welcome as I am new to the forum.
Many thanks G.

Yes I think a lot can be caused by stress and worry....you mention specifically under eyes and across the cheeks....there are 2 large sinus cavities either side which can become inflammed....upper back teeth ache is also a symptom of this. Im unsure if an MRI shows up sinus, something from memory tells me it doesnt. I am going through similar things tho my T is not pulsatile...I strongly suspect anxiety. I went through hypnotherapy yesterday and feel somewhat calmer today....spookily enough my symptoms although still there seem lesser today.
Stress and anxiety is not the only reason but it’s the most important reason specially for Tinnitus. I have observed with my Tinnitus that stress, worry, anxiety, tension and even more thinking about Tinnitus or any other routine work make my Tinnitus even worse. But you have another symptom as well so you must consult your GP. But always remember, the best solution for Tinnitus is “Just Ignore it”. Please share your findings once you get something improved in future.

Sounds like if it’s in one ear, it might be related to damage to something in that ear. I’m just guessing but mine is centralized so I have suspected my stenosis of c5c6. Now I’m more thinking it’s ear related. That is the debate that wages on. I’d have that ear checked by a specialist but don’t have a brain scan unless you are willing to make it worse.
I plan to post any new discoveries so check back with my banter.
Hi, I'm having a similar problem since the start of the summer.t wasn't so bad but went on holiday and since returning 6 weeks ago my tinnitus has been through the roof.i think it is all sinus related as when I flew I had sinus infection and doctor says I may have fluid now behind the ear drums.i'm getting another appointment with E.N.T but God knows how long that will take.tinnitus is relentless at the minute. Keep us up to date on your symptoms.
