Bronchiecstasis and acid reflux

Hi

I’ve been diagnosed with mild bronchiecstasis. My respiratory consultant is sending me to chest physio. I also went to gp about slightly swollen stomach. She said it didn’t feel hard and CA125 blood test came back negative. She said it might be due to acid reflux.

So I have two questions

Is acid reflux often the cause of bronchiecstasis?

My cough especially bothers me after meals and when I’m sitting down. Walking around I’m barely coughing at all. Is this the case for other people?

Thanks so much. Feeling confused and waiting to see respiratory specialist again

Reflux can definitely cause (or exacerbate) bronchiectasis if it is making you aspirate. It could also be that you are aspirating from a swallowing dysfunction. It would be good to see a GI specialist to evaluate you for reflux and dysphasia, in addition to the stomach bloating you have going on. I hope you feel better and get some answers soon!
