After months of recurrent chest infections and after I asked for a CT scan I now know I have bronchiectasis. Not best pleased as already have asthma but more because a lot of my care and treatment has been reactive...have some more antibiotics and steroids that clearly weren't working! I see my Respiratory Consultant tomorrow so let's see what he comes up with.

on the positive side you know what you’re up against and can head off some of those infections. Do have a look at the lung conditions forum as there’s a few on there that have Bronchiectasis and asthma. Your consultant should refer you to a physio to teach you lung clearance. It’s best to have a consultant that specialises in Bronchiectasis as general respiratory docs aren’t always clued up on it. I hope your appointment went well. Come back and ask any questions you may have there’s always someone who can try to help.

Thank you. I've started Azithromycin so hopefully will it will help with the infections.I still feel quite fatigued but have managed to go back to work (I only work 2 days as i retired last year).I'm trying to get back to my yin yoga as this helps my mind and breathing.Off for a swim today!

Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with bronchiectasis after my asthma consultant sent me for ct scanning. (I have had constant chest infections, antibiotics and steroids which just damped things down til next flare up) I had my first physio appointment this week and she was really lovely, kind and helpful.

The lung clearing I am still getting the hang of doing properly but it really is helping

I’m not sure which inhalers you are on, I’m still with my usual asthma consultant and she says mine will be helping with the bronchiectasis. I’ve also started an antibiotic trial for 3 months

Hope your appointment goes well, if I had mine again I would have written down some notes, it felt like a lot to process

I use Fostair although my Consultant wasn't best pleased.I find it helps and I had to do something at the time my chest was bad.Ive started on Azithromycin so hopefully I can hold off some of the chest infections. Hoping to restart my yin yoga as it helps my mind and breathing. I stopped as had a hernia repair caused by all the coughing! Off for a swim today
