Hello. Can I just gauge what other people's symptoms are please when they over do it, and also what level of activity causes them to over do it please? Ideally looking to hear from people with mild disease. I'm just trying to gauge if something else is going on with me really as well as the bronchiectasis. Thank you and wishing you all well.

Over doing it symptoms
Hello MiniGirl. I was diagnosed with mild to moderate bronchiectasis in 2017. I manage it by clearing my chest with the active breathing cycle every day, drinking plenty of water, not having too many late nights, and exercise - a bit of tai chi, but mostly walking . I aim to walk 3 miles a day (but I think I average about 2.5) and include a 5-6 mile walk every week. Tiredness is a problem, so I pace myself. If I’m going out a couple of evenings in a week or have several busy days on the trot I’ll make sure I schedule in some days with nothing on to rest (easy now I’m retired). Every now and then - probably because I’ve overdone it - I get an overwhelming fatigue and sometimes pain in my chest. When that happens I clear the decks (once again, easy now I’m retired and have no caring responsibilities) and spend as long as it takes lying down, in or on the bed. It’s usually about a day and a half before I’m up and about again. I’m lucky enough to have been well for the past two years without any need for antibiotics. Everyone’s different, but that’s what works for me. I wish you well.
Thank you. That's really interesting. Mine has the same result, very tired and chest pains, but also very heavy arms and legs. I wondered if it wasnt the disease after a chat with my consultant. I am still working at the moment as I'm early 40's but finding it hard in terms of work draining me so much that my life outside of work is now virtually gone. I exercise everyday before work (5am start) and do my lung clearance, but it still catches me out. Its so frustrating and debilitating. I'm glad you said yours is a good day and a half recovery as that matches mine and I had thought I was being weak, so hopefully that means I'm not. Thank you ever so much for replying.
Hi, I have previously been diagnosed with Bronchiectasis and find that fatigue can be a major frustrating and depressing problem. If I am physically active in the morning, I frequently need to sleep for an hour or two in the afternoon. The fatigue can also stretch into the next day, To combat this, as mentioned in a previous reply, pacing such physical activity seems to be the key. Despite this, it is said that exercise is important and it may become necessary to push through the tiredness. Sadly there doesn’t seem to be any magic wand.
Thank you, it's good to hear this. I am exercising every day, and doing lung clearance, but just find the tiniest things set it all off. I really just wanted to know if it was normal at the level I'm having and it seems it is, so that's good to know. Thank you for replying and sending kind wishes.
