Hi Phill1, I was given carbocysteine in hospital it didn't work for me. The only thing that helps me is to nebulise saline, but we are all different. Give it a bit longer to do it’s work, it says about 4 weeks.
Coughed up a bit of blood last week which has stopped ..then today more mucus than normal .. not sure whether the carbocysteine has kicked in or whether I’m having an exacerbation🙄🙄
Feeling ok …just tired …so Because I also have pseudomonas I’ve Decided to start on my ciprofloxacin …all so confusing.!.
I also have pseudomonas when I have an exacerbation and take ciprofloxacin . I find it takes me weeks to get over it and the same as you feel very tired. The extra mucus could be the carbocysteine is working or you are having an exacerbation, or both.
My consultant says if the mucus goes green send a sample into the lab to find out which antibiotic will work. Normally ciprofloxacin works but if not I have to be admitted into hospital to have iv antibiotics. I also take montelukast for inflammation and azithromycin 3 times a week to keep the bugs at bay.
