Does anyone else have their tummy drained regularly?

I was drained I think four times in total. I know it's something that the consultants usually only resort to when meds are not proving effective as it introduces a risk of infection. I had three seperate SBP infections, where the ascitic fluid becomes infected (not related to drains) and can vouch that infection is something to be avoided as each bout led to up to a month in hospital on IV antibiotics.
