hi all,

Looking for general advice, stories of people with similar experiences.

I was put on anti-biotics for tonsillitis. 5 days which did nothing and then 10 days straight after(total 15) with about a 2 day gap between. Afterwards I had bloods done randomly and my liver function came back high, (ALT 82 and GGT 99). This was November 12th. They rebooked me for bloods on 30th December and didn’t suspect anything, I did some searches and put it down to anti-biotic usage.

On the retest, to my surprise I got the results stated in the title (ALT 87 and GGT 150). I received a text from the GP to review my diet as it’s affecting my liver function due to cholesterol result (5 total, 1.7 tryicldes). I’m normal BMI and not overweight for ref.

I’d been indulging somewhat in the Christmas month but nothing super excessive, could this just be the cause again?

since, I had an outpatient appointment at the hospital for my tonsils(tonsillectomy referral) and speaking to the other Dr here he said my cholesterol looked OK, which confused me even further. He ordered some additional bloods(coagulation) and an ultrasound. Coagulation profile came back fine. And currently awaiting ultrasound to reach him, but after scan the person said all looks fine, so now I’m even more confused?

He’s currently holding off my surgery due to the raised results as he seeks advice from the anaesthesiologist.
