fibroscan

So after over 4 months of waiting I finally have my fibroscan tomorrow. I had repeat bloods done two weeks ago which show high serum alkaline phosphates at 193, falling platelets and high bilirubin at 45. Other than fatigue, decreased appetite and an irritating itchy right leg I don’t seem to be suffering any other signs of liver disease. I have no yellowing of the skin and no change in colour of urine and stools. Something definitely not right with the bloods so I guess it’s wait and see what tomorrow brings.

Wishing you the best. You've had a long wait to get more info and I know how stressful that is. I did get my fibroscan results immediately as my own GI did the scan. I hope you get yours right away so you have some answers.

Thank you for your reply and well wishes. I had my first bloods done in July so they don’t rush lol. I’m not even sure what a good or bad score is to be honest but will hopefully closer to finding out what’s wrong

Hoping you receive some useful information, insight and guidance today.

I do hear you. Apparently, my similar wait is scheduled to be until the end of April (since early September). It is harsh, the waiting.

As Jane Austen wrote in her book "Mansfield Park":

"When people are waiting,, they are bad judges of time, and every half minute seems like five".

The only reason I’m in today is because I went back to the doctors to chase it up. Thank you for your reply and good luck in your journey

Hi anon. Also itchy with no other symptoms ans wondering how you got on at the scan. Have private health (for years) but they seem to be resisting covering me currently so selfish funding to see hepatologist in a couple of weeks then for tests and scans as nhs seems pretty useless where I live .

Hi there. I had the scan on Sunday but need to wait for the results. I’ve waited nearly 5 months already so I guess the nhs are behind. Seems a waste of time having private health care if they don’t help when you need it! Have you had bloods done or anything?

Yes had bloods done. In July has alt ast alp albumin creatinine ferritin and globulin and all were normal. Had bloods again last week and alt 108 and and GGT done for first time and it was 151. How about you?

To be honest I lose track of which is which without looking. my ggt looks fine but ALP is high at 193, ALT is fine, high bilirubin and low platelets. Albumin low globulin high. I’m just going to wait and see what the fibroscan results say I think!

Hopefully you will be ok too

Thanks for the update and good news on the liver. I’ve never even thought about pancreas but hopefully it will resolve itself. I guess the itching could be a number of things. I’ve not had my results yet but will keep you posted
