7.8 fibroscan

Hi

I was told i have a lot of fat around the liver, blood tests all fine, slight elevation in the ALT (norm is 45, i was 95) all the calculations, fib score NAFLD score were nothing and all normal, i paid to get a fibroscan done ust to double check and i got a 7.8 score which i was told is a small amount of scarring which i was told would be repairable by making lifestyle changes, i am overweight so i can see why my liver is fatty my depression brought me down a dark path but im all good in that department now

i would just like to ask people who have expierenced this, how do you reduce the fat on your liver? is it just by dieting, losing weight and exercise? i have already lost 1.2 stone and will continue losing it until my BMI is in the healthy range, This is my first time even knowing about this liver stuff as i followed the myth of only alcohol damages the liver.

Another question, What is the diagnosis for fatty liver? as i clearly have a fatty liver but they wont diagnose me, does it have to be a serious form of it?

Hi! Did your Fibroscan also give you a CAP score? That would tell you about the percent of your liver that has fatty change. I have a similar kPa of 7.5 which my GI also said would likely repair itself with weight loss and more exercise, both of which I have done. I had the Fibroscan because an ultrasound done for unrelated reasons showed fatty liver. The CAP score showed the fatty changes to be early moderate. I'm not sure when the Fibroscan will be repeated but I am 5 pounds from normal BMI. I think it is a great idea to get to a healthy weight, exercise and check out the British Liver Trusts dietary recommendations. Great that you caught this at a reversible stage!
