High LFT Test so scared
This isn't a major elevation of your GGT and certainly not something to get overly scared about. Also, if this is an isolated elevation of GGT alone - no other markers raised i.e. ALT, AST, ALP it actually might not point to anything liver related.
GGT is a very sensitive marker and can bounce about all the time. At 78 it's less than 2 x upper limit of normal. Doctors don't tend to get 'excited' about such things unless multiple markers are raised and are significantly so (4x + upper limit of normal).
I note in your profile you have 'healthy eating' and 'weightloss' as health interests. If you are carrying a little too much weight and maybe don't have the best of diets then non alcohol related fatty liver disease (NAFLD) might be a concern but if your other liver markers were ok it might not have progressed too far but you might want to give your liver a little care and attention along those lines and retest in a few months.
The BLT has a page all about NAFLD together with information on treating the condition with healthy diet and exercise. These can be found at:-

hi there
Thank you for reply. I have just looked at my other results on the NHS app and my ALT is just in range and my Serum Alkaline is 146 my GP says repeat test in 6 weeks so I have booked a retest. I have been having upper tummy pain for 9 months now and have had ultrasound scan and CT scans and liver was normal in March and June but that’s a long time ago so worried that my Doctor doesn’t seem that bothered which is making me worse mentally. I am getting awful nausea in the morning I can’t function until lunch time. Doctor had said that’s IBS on Buscapan omerprozol and Gaviscon for 9 months I don’t know what to do
If it's ALP and GGT that are elevated it's usually a biliary issue and this can include gallstone issues (might correlated with your upper tummy pain and other symptoms).
As us ladies get more mature gallstones are a common issue - maybe it's worth asking for investigations into this.

The value of performing a GGT is to ascertain where the rise in ALP is likely to be coming from, as it is present in various other tissues, notably bone and gut, A raised GGT does imply a hepatic origin for the rise. As AyrshireK points out the most likely culprit is an issue with the biliary tract, which includes the gallbladder. However if you have had normal imaging (USS and CT Scan), then it may have been a temporary rise, or even due to the passage of a small gallstone. In any case, your GP is correct to maintain a watching brief, and a repeat of the LFTs in 6 weeks is entirely appropriate.
