Some people may have seen my previous posts, but for those who haven't I've been experiencing a variety of liver symptoms for around 4 years. I've seen two specialists, had a number of scans but no conclusion. One even telling me I had health anxiety. Since then I have just chosen to live with my symptoms hoping they'd disappear, I have periods where I feel fine but others I don't. I haven't touched a drop of alcohol for a year, and avoid anything else that seems toxic to the liver and that without a doubt heightens my symptoms. Recently I've had prolonged periods of ruq pain and decided to get my LFT's checked for the first time in a couple of years. My ALT came back at 292 and GGT 400, the doctor has referred me for a US again. I'm hoping this time they find out what's going on or offer me a biopsy.

My hubby has had a transplant due to alpha 1 antitripsin deficiency zz. Took years for medics to find this out and then 4 years to get to a proper liver clinic. Keep pushing.Hood luck
I hope you get some conclusive answers this time. Have they tested your blood for all the varieties of hepatitis, including anti-immune?
The ALT is not an insignificant rise at 292, with GGT 400, there is cause for further invesigation.
Biopsy would be a last resort, because doesnt come without risk. I believe they need a clinical reason to. If your LFTs are fine and you are only experiencing some discomfort at times I dont they will go ahead with it very easily.
