Hi, PeppyPo. The biopsy will give you good information about liver state..I had doubts several years ago about false negative fibroscan results and I did biopsy privately. Just take it easy and wait for your appointment

Relax. Fibroscans are NOT always accurate and even people with advanced cirrhosis have been known to live a good long life if they maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Now before I say the following let me emphasize that I am NOT a doctor nor ANY kind of medical professional, so please feel free to ignore...that said, some medications for autoimmune things like psoriasis are given cautiously precisely because they can cause fibrosis/cirrhosis. I would take the medication you have been taking back to the doctor prescribing them and flat out ask "is this medication not perhaps the culprit? Maybe I should be on a lower dose or on something completely different?" and see what they say.

Your case is NOT hopeless by any means. Please get some good sleep and see those doctors because if a medication is found to be a cause, doctors should be able to know what to do. You should call the Helpline that is a free advisement center staffed by medical professionals for more information. Again your case is NOT hopeless, there are many good endings reported on these boards. Good luck and don't give up!

please don’t panic. I’m 56 now but I was found to have a fatty liver in my 30s. I wasn’t overweight at that point but I am now due to age/menopause. I was surprised as I didn’t even like fatty foods. Diet and exercise is what you need to do if you can. Low fat and low sugar (because any unused energy will be stored as fat) . I was out on Bp meds and a statin in my late 30s to help protect me from a stroke. I have arthritis, a bowel condition, type 2 diabetes, fibro etc. but as said I’m 56 and I’m fine. Still working full time etc. you’re not dying you just need to eat healthily and move more. Don’t mean that to sound rude and it might not be easy for you - wasn’t for me with arthritis. But you can make things better or stop them getting worse.

Right. First things to do.1. STAY AWAY FROM GOOGLE. More than any other disease, illness or diagnosis I have ever seen, as soon as you out anything related to liver into Google it just tells you you're dying. Google is not your friend right now

2. If you had advanced liver disease you would know about it. If you're not yellow, vomiting blood profusely, swelling up with fluid, very confused/forgetful, itching all over all of the time then the chances are you are not immediately dying.

Then, fibroscans are the best way of understanding the overall tissue makeup of your liver. They are also notoriously poor at recognising the difference between fibrous tissue and inflammation. Your results have been moderated out by the mods (asking for advice on specific test results is not permitted), but when my husband was first diagnosed he was showing as 64.4kPA (the highest it goes up to is 75KPa) and was advised he'd probably need a liver transplant. It turned out the fibroscan was reading inflammation as fibrotic tissue.

No alcohol, gentle exercise, eat well. Go to your appointments, and don't stop taking a medication unless a medical professional tell you to. Many people with liver disease live boringly normal, long lives, including so many people on this board.

Not what you're looking for?
