I would like to thank you all for your advice and for sharing your experiences of having an endoscopy.

I had this done on Tuesday and although a rather strange experience, the first one done!

Reading and re-reading your experiences prior this helped me enormously.

Thank you all so much x

Well done! It's not something you would choose given any other option, I really struggle with them, my notes from last one read "procedure terminated early, patient could not tolerate"! I just try to think while it's happening "get this done and this bugger and his camera will leave you alone for six months". I'm kidding of course, the team at my hospital are lovely, conscientious people who always put the patient first.

Glad that you got through it ok, I think sometimes it is the fear of the unknown that is worse. At least you know know what to expect should you need another one.
