Hello everyone,I'm new here today, really looking forward to get to know the group! There's a (lengthy) profile to let anyone interested know where I currently am with my disease. Thanks .
Hello!: Hello everyone,I'm new here... - British Liver Trust
Hello!
The sugar rush I understand, since I've been sober 12+ years I've swapped one addiction for another, I try to not drink to much Coca-Cola ( full fat🤣) and I have an urge for chocolate or cream cakes, which I do moderate, just a little tip try and put your posts in shorter versions on the main page rather than your profile, it will generate more replies, I hope things continue to stay settled, but obviously I can't remember everything in your longer message on your profile introduction, but I wish you well 😊
😆 🤣
Good luck on your journey. You will find amazing support on this wonderful site.
Good to meet you. You have a very comprehensive profile….so I know a lot about you! 😀 Welcome to the forum. It’s a great place to learn about liver disease from people who have first hand experience. It’s also a great place to get support. I hope you get lots out of it. I’ve developed a bit of a sugar thing too…apparently it’s very common. I’m careful with it, as sugar isn’t a great friend of our liver’s. That said my dietician told me when I was first diagnosed and overly strict, that if my diet was too severe that I wouldn’t stick to it….so a bit of chocolate every now and again is ok. Coke, fortunately, isn’t something I crave….🤢
Hello Nerico and welcome firstly I did indeed read your profile and you know I am sure your partner would love to know how wonderful you think she is and how much you appreciate the toll it has taken, lovely to read. Like so many on this forum there are many levels of the disease and it is undoubtedly a long journey but so good to see and hear you quit the alcohol congratulations. You sound like my other half replacing one addiction with another he too loves sugar but is keeping it as controlled as possible, we have just gone through a very rocky and negative period and I can only speak for myself that this disease challenges every part of a loving relationship even to breaking point so it is so good to see you are embracing a future and learning to live with certain obvious restrictions - for the sleepless nights my hubby now has melatonin it certainly helps even if there are nights worse than others and he too gets very tired very quickly this is part and parcel and again good and bad days. I am surprised to hear that you are taking codeine has your doc prescribed this? I only question it because my hubby was told he must not take paracetamol/ibuprofen or codeine there is a painkiller which he was prescribed for a while called nefopam he only took it as and when really needed and touch wood he hasn't needed it for a while now but this was the only one the liver specialist said he was allowed so please check if you haven't already.
Good luck and best wishes and hugs to medusa🙂
Hi
My consultant prescribed codeine for severe pain, I'm careful to limit myself strictly to take as little as possible. I will ask about nefopam, my partner takes it for PMT. Thanks for the heads up about melatonin too, I hadn't considered it. I've been prescribed tablets that are primarily antihistamines but have a narcotic side effect...or not, in my case.
I'm trying to move my sugar intake to fruit, that seems to be going pretty well.
Hi, I've read your profile and well done for kicking the alcohol. If you use Facebook please feel free to join our friendly and knowledgeable Facebook page called liver transplant support uk, thousands of people that have been in your situation, no judgement. It's a long process to get on the transplant list and if you need any support just ask. I had my transplant 7 years ago and I'm doing fine.Hilary xx
