Hello there in Alabama hope your ok bedsides having stage four liver disease.youll need to address your methadone besides not drinking which is tremendous and eating healthy food.taking a chemical opiate is not going to help your liver in anyway what’s so ever.also if you ever become so ill that you need a TP they wouldn’t consider you here in the UK anyway.perhaps it’s different in the US i don’t know.welcome to the site and wish you well.paul

Thank You for your reply Popel. The Methadone does not appear to be damaging my liver certainly not like I was before on my own and my bad choices. I pray a transplant will never be necessary here in U.S. a transplant is a big deal, no insurance and lack of funding are only the start for me. I feel that I am on the best path with God and changing my lifestyle I have a hope and a prayer, funny it took this to get my attention. Thanks Again and God Bless

Yeh I agree it’s the same were ever you are in that the shit has to hit the fan before we take notice.we are pretty lucky here by the sounds of it.with us having the NHS (National health service).but as long as you’re liver isn’t decomponsated you’ll be able to reverse it.as im on and I’m into American politics you don’t happen to support Trump do you?all the best.paul

I can’t currently vote right now but Trump is a better candidate than the other choices if you follow American Politics you know it’s a very competitive circus.Do you not care for Donald? It doesn’t matter to me Paul I never argue over Politics,Religion,or Women. Now sports are different I have my opinions.

Take Care

Hi mayo, I am an American woman 57 yrs. old, live in North Carolina, love the Sunny South! Are you under a doctor's care? If the methadone is helping you not relapse, that must be a good thing. But I'm concerned for your liver health. When I was first diagnosed, they said "stage 4 cirrhosis", but come to find out, they were referring to a scale from 0 (no liver damage whatsoever) to 4 (cirrhosis). After that, there is yet another scale to tell you what stage of cirrhosis you're in. I'm not an expert, you're in the right place to hear from one though ☺️.

Thank You Bootandall for your reply. I was really sick awhile back swole up like a tick anyway I am really Blessed Now. I haven’t been to Dr. in awhile hoping for my disability hearing soon, I was a Pipe Fitter did well but I wasn’t if you get it. I am doing all I can with the resources available to me, I have had a fibroscan and I had Hepatitis C and it progressed to my current disease I guess I still have the C?. I am just Thanking God For My Life Today. Thanks Again and God Bless

I had Hep C too that progressed to liver cirrhosis. I got into a study, and was successfully treated, then I was diagnosed with a fatty liver. I am trying to change my diet so I can potentially reverse the cirrhosis, but find my addiction to sugar hard to beat. Harder than drugs or alcohol in some ways, because one must still eat. Thanks for reminding me to Give Thanks for Today. You have a great attitude. If I didn't have a sense of humor, I couldn't stand to go on.

Hello Mayo 👋, it’s great to hear that you are so positive and happy getting sorted with your life.

Gosh the US system with the private insurance sounds a nightmare and very expensive also. You sound like you’ve done really good with your new regime though and I hope you can keep at it. It’s good to reach out, especially in this environment where people know what you are going through either from themselves or their experiences with family and friends. All the best to you.

Thank You for your reply jazzjam,I feel really fortunate and blessed that a transplant or some of the other procedures I have been reading, hearing about are not necessary for me.The way I feel most of the time it's hard to believe I have the diagnosis I have,I was really sick awhile back sort of scary really.I got clean and sober started eating better, started training, and gave it all to God.It's really a miracle,I think we all are.

Thanks Again and God Bless.
