Yes, it's me again. Just when I think everything's settled in my head, up pops another question.
Just wondering if there are any vegetarians on this forum who could help me out regarding the cirrhosis diet if you're a vegetarian. I just want to make sure I get enough protein [from what I've read, I need a lot of this? My specialist has not discussed with me what I should be eating/drinking].
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Beans, nuts, lentils etc are suitable for vegetarians and a great source of healthy protein. I try and make my own homemade beans using chickpeas and a homemade tomato sauce as tinned beans can contain lots of sugar and sodium, although you can buy low sugar and low sodium alternatives from the supermarket. Protein will be very important for the liver so it’s important you get enough healthy protien in your diet. Some protein shakes are suitable for vegetarians too. You should ask about seeing a dietician or nutritionist as they will be best placed to provide the right kind of dietary advice for you.
Listed in the high protein diet leaflet hubby was given:- high protein yoghurt, milk, cheese, eggs, pulses such as peas, beans (including baked beans) and lentils/dhal, meat slernatives such as tofu, soya, seitan, tempeh and Quorn.
