Hi
I hope this finds you all well and thanks for clicking on my post
For context:
-I'm 49
-Female
-Afro-Carribean descent
- I've mostly watched the amount of saturated fat I consume but can't say the same for simple carbs
-I drank mostly in my 20s at the weekend and rarely drink now
-I'm 5.5" and about 9 stone
I had a Fibroscan which showed heterogeneous attenuation of the liver (result of 14.2) then a biopsy which, thankfully, showed no sign of cirrhosis.
I've been discharged, and the consultant has basically said there's nothing to see, you are OK to drink alcohol but stay away from herbal products.
I'm grateful as so many people don't get this good news, but at the same time confused. Partly because the heterogeneous attenuation of the liver is presumably still there, as evidenced by the Fibroscan, and partly because I've been given advice on things that I don't do: drink or use herbal products.
This is the 2nd consultation that I've had where I've been left confused. What does 14.2 even mean when the liver doesn't show cirrhosis? What does ' heterogeneous attenuation ' mean if there's no cirrhosis?
My symptoms:
-nausea
-tiredness
-bloating
-a warm and horizontal sensation at the top of my ribcage
have now been attributed to acid reflux (I have a small sliding haitus hernia) by my consultant.
I've written to the hospital department for help but then remembered this community. I know all contributions will be anecdotal, but I'd be interested in any thoughts whilst waiting a response.
God bless
Mush
