I don’t understand this report as 7.9 Kos should indicate f2 fibrosis not f1 also the did not give me a cap score
Not overweight very fit active no alcohol or any kind of hepatitis not hereditary conditions either
So quite confused

sorry meant to say 7.9 Kpa score
What was the reason of the Fibroscan? It should never be done as screening test first. High result when done anyway is false positive with very high probability (of course there is a little chance of real issue with the liver so further tests are needed to rule it out).
sorry to ask but what further test should I get
Thanks for your help
Hi. Sory for my english. I hope you will understand me. Did you fasting, not eat before fibroscan? How long? My story. i had first fibroscan on 11/2022. Not eat for only 4 hours. Results 7,3. Cap 230. After 90 days, and after 1 year i did not eat all night (12 hours) and my score went down to 6,3. Cap 170. I had fibroscan early in the morning. I think results depands also on how long do you not eat. I am not medical educated. This is only my appinion, my story.
There is no one bar on the fibroscan score chart that covers every condition. Each underlying condition has it's own bar/cut off points so what a 7.9 kPa score means for one condition may differ from what that means in another.
Obviously they don't know yet what is causing your issues, high ferritin can occur in a number of scenarios so they need to find out what is causing yours.
Have you had the genetic test for Haemochromatosis?
In the absence of any obvious causes of liver disease i,e. no lifestyle risk factors they will need to investigate other perhaps rarer conditions.
Katie
Thanks you so much for your answer
Yes I did have the genetic test Haemochromatosis
Bust just for the most common type of it.
But why must of the info online sets the bar at 7 Kpa that’s doing my head in. I just want to know what degree of fibrosis I have so what is next ?
I read your profile I really hope your husband is doing ok best wishes
Unfortunately i Do have an inherited liver and lung disease and have to have fibroscans about once a year. My last fibro scan had a score of 10.5kpa. It said in a letter back to me that there was significant scarring, but i will have another scan in a few months time. Like you i think, i don't know which is too high or too low a number, i keep forgetting to ask the doctor who does it to explain it all!!!, i hope i remember next time
There are many different interpretation guidlines for the fibroscan depending on which study doctors go by. I am attatching a link from Echoshens, the company that makes the fibroscan machine. As you will see there thresholds for F0-F1 are much higher. I have seen two hepatologists who use these guidlines and one hepatologist who uses another older study guidline of kpa of 7 or under F0-F1. It’s very frustrating. How do you know who is correct? I recently had a fibroscan of 8.1 which pushed me into the F2 range and my CAP was S2. My previous 4 fibroscans were all in the 6.5 range. My doctor didn’t believe I was F2 so he got me approved for an MR Elastography, which is the most accurate non invasive test. Well those results indicated that I don’t even have fatty liver, with 2% fat. Anything under 5% is normal and my stiffness level was totally normal at 2.2 KPA, for an MRE anything under 2.5 is normal. My hepatologist said I have a perfectly normal healthy liver and that fibroscan can be very operator dependent and prone to overestimate. I tell everyone who received fibroscan results outside the normal range to push for an MR Elastography. Regarding your lack of CAP score, verify that the test you had was indeed a fibroscan and not an ultrasound elastography, as you usually don’t get a CAP score with the ultrasound elastography test and their KPA scores mean different levels of fibrosis. Many doctors interchange the term fibroscan with ultrasound elastography.
