Done my liver resection on 14 March 2024 coz found tumour in it since 2023. Went through Y90 treatment to shrink the tumour. Doc removed the tumour via keyhole with a drainage wound.

After the op, stayed in hospital for 7 days till I’m stable and independent enough to walk on my own so wouldn’t be a burden when home. However lots of unexpected experiences…like why m I in constant pain, front and back.

From the old post, I can really relate the idea of…having the internal being shove and pushed during the surgery which thus take time to recover though the external surface wound has gradually heal. Basic daily activities such as walking, hanging up stuff, sweeping the floor and even sitting down, eating became a chore and pain.

I’m even surprised that wearing bra will become a pain.

I’m just hoping all these pain will soon go away and life can resume as normal.

how long would that be? I wonder…

I found the pain afterwards shocking but not in a painful way, how restricted I was, I had 40cm scar (yes I did measure) in the shape of a J that was stapled. Your body has gone through a lot. It will recover just take it easy but keep moving, cough or sneeze with a pillow against your tummy. Each day I got more mobile. Within a few weeks you'll realise how much more you can do compared to your discharge day from hospital. If you are concerned about your pain ring your GP it did the hospital give you a number for any queries. Don’t be afraid to ask them. I rang my hepatology team 10days after op as I was experiencing pain they were lovely and asked lots of questions, which determined my body was still recovering. All the best to you
