I had my transplant 9 weeks ago I can’t believe the difference it has had. I sleep all night, no boiling up in the night, my breathing is better I use breathe so loud I think it was all the fluids inside me I was struggling to breathe I feel like I’m 20 years old again and I’m 50 . My mind is so much clearer I can think straight and alert, I had HE sometimes, was 112 kg before now only 88 kg now I can actually walk normal now Little things like putting my socks on getting dressed on my own, Looking back did not realise how ill I was, What a new life I’ve been given thanks to my donor any one on list waiting for TP believe me it’s worth the wait I can’t remember ever feeling so good after 35 years of alcohol abuse its a pleasure to be alive there is light at the end of the tunnel mine was a long one but got there eventually.

Great to hear another post transplant story of positivity - here's hoping things keep going the right way with not too many bumps in the road. Just waiting for hubbies assessment dates now and so hope he too gets his chance.
Katie ♥️
Well done - and good luck with your new life 😀
My husband had his transplant 24/06/23, we look back at before and can’t quite believe how we got through each day up to then. It’s like day and night, as time goes on his strength improves, he is returning to the man I married and thought lost. He says that he never realised how ill he was, when he reflects he refers to not being able to remember everything, like looking through the fog. We have been very fortunate and so far he journey has been incredible, no real issues. We are forever grateful for his 2nd chance with each day of good health, blessed for his opportunity. The NHS is amazing, we are so lucky to have it with all it does. I know may not be perfect nothing is, we are all human and imperfectly wonderful, but we are so thankful for each day and the family that made it possible. Wishing you all the best in your new journey xx
Congratulations on your transplant, take your recovery slowly, it generally takes a year to recover from transplant surgery don't try to rush or you could cause problems in the future. Drink lots of water to flush the extremely toxic drugs, tacrolimus through your kidneys or they will be damaged. Sorry to be such a party pooper but you are still very early out of transplant. If you use Facebook please feel free to join our friendly and knowledgeable Facebook group called ' liver transplant support uk ' thousands of people that have been in your situation.
