Chronic alcoholic for the past 15+years, sounds strange but a totally harmless drunk.
3 weeks ago went rapidly downhill
Bad pain in right side
Loss of appetite
Sleeping 16 hours a day
Night sweats, also if he takes paracetamol for the pain he sweats like crazy, soaks the bed. I guess his liver can’t process anymore.
Not always making sense
I’m not superstitious but a robin flew into my house 2 days ago!, making me think.
He stopped drinking about 3 weeks ago too, I think he can’t physically bring a glass of wine to his lips. He would drink it if he could I think.
He is shuffling on his feet and for a man that was a big walker, 10+ miles a day was no problem. He can’t walk more than 10-15 steps.
He had an ultrasound last week, liver is covered in lesions, one is 10cms. Liver is enlarged also.
He is scheduled for bloods on Monday. GP is talking about us not knowing anything until a biopsy is done, but I fear they may not do one because he is on a lot of blood thinners and his blood doesn’t clot because of his heart. He has a heart arithmya. Also caused by drink.
Our family is very close, we have no regrets because believe me we tried everything to get him off the drink but to no avail.
I would just like to know how long is left in him ??, I know nobody has an answer but what does anyone think ?

Very sad for all of you to see your dad so unwell. Just continue to love him and see him through whatever comes next. From what I have read on here we hear from those who have seemed to be at death's door at one stage in their lives but somehow made it, changed their lifestyles and are still here years later and we've heard from relatives whose loved ones have slid down that slope and been unable to recover. But it's awful not knowing what will be when we see someone we love suffering. Best wishes to you and your family. xx
