I have not been well for about 4 years one thing after another. Tirwdness left side weekness and more. I was 1st diagnosed diabeties type 2 2 years ago. Then severe isteospirosis last year. Angina and artery issue in heart. Abd always hav ing low blood platets. Dr shrugged this off as nothingAnyway by sheer chance i had ct scan that showed liver fibrosis. Further tests abd fibro scan sgowed afvabced liver cirrhosus stage 4.bloods showed hepc culprit. I hadblood trabsfusion i. 1983. So here i am now shocked. Not sure what to do. I am o. Luver surveilance with liver team and due to have medication. For hepc.. How it got to this stage without anyine k owing beyond me. The itchiness starred months before diagnosis. I though i was allergic to somethjbg fatigue really bad. Tummy pain and being sick i had all this before diagnosis what now i ask. Wheni saud to liver team nurse should i stop takibg my paracetamol for pain. He just said if inpaun take it. I was a bit taken aback qhen i asked about prognosis he just said well your luver is still working but dont worry u could get run over by bus quicker. So am asking if anyone with stage 4 hepc and aged over 60 can live over 2 years ?

Well please do not write like that "can live over 2 years?". Please ask your hepatologist if HCV is active and if it is a need to cure it (nowadays very good prognosis to do this). Good luck and please chin up. Cirrhosis is a serious condition but manageable.

hi, sorry to hear about yet another victim. I am 63 and like you I got it from a blood transfusion in 1986. I wasn’t diagnosed until 2020 and am now clear of the virus but have cirrhosis. At the moment I feel OK. On a different note do you know you can get compensation for this? I have so far received £170,000 and £2700 every month. It doesn’t make up for having this horrible disease but it does make life easier not having to work.

Take care.

Anne
