Hello 👋 CT scans

Anyone able to tell me, would my contrast CT scans of the abdomen show cirrhosis? I have a patent portal and splenic vein. Which I hope if good?!! My liver is enlarged. 23cm. Has diffuse fatty infiltration. All labs are normal. No yellowing 🟡🟡 of my eyes. Or skin.

I have had 2 CT scans of my abdomen both with contrast. I see it can show cirrhosis on a CT scan. But I ALS found that Google shows that a lot of people say that it cannot.

Can anyone shed some light on my broken soul at the moment??!!! I feel extremely doomed. I could spare a few pounds that's for sure

Also. My doc said "if you had portal hypertension then yes I'd say cirrhosis but you don't!" So how's the doctor know???

Good old Dr Google strikes again. If you have had two abdominal CT scans which have confirmed a diagnosis of fatty liver, normal portal and splenic vein and normal bloods then that is the stage you are at. Doctors know what they are doing and order appropriate tests which is what you've had done - don't let Dr Google convince you differently.

Do all you can to tackle the fatty liver and hopefully you will never reach cirrhosis stage.

Hi there I had a ct scan recently which did diagnose fatty liver, this is all so new to me but when the dr gave me results I did ask so it's definitely fatty liver not chirrosis and he said yes. That is correct. I'm guessing they can definitely tell the difference. I also read that on google and had myself in a panic that they may have missed something.

It's so horrible, I see so many people in groups say, "CT scan diagnosed my CT scan" and others say "CT scans can NOT see cirrhosis" whole Google says it can... But I rarely believe Google lolol I feel doomed.. all of my labs are fantastic. But liver is 22/23 cm enlarged

Very positive that your bloods are all good mine weren't, not sure of the exact numbers but they just said they were slightly elevated

Hello, the GI specialist at the hospital ran a CT scan on me because they thought they saw portal vein thrombosis in an ultra sound. They clearly saw that I had portal vein hypertension in the ct images and a damaged liver. So yes, a CT scan will certainly pick up cirrhosis and so will an MRI.
