Hi everyone can anyone tell me if fibrosis can b reverse my fibre scan shows 8.9 very scare as I didn't even no what fibrosis was until I was sent for one .
Fibrosis : Hi everyone can anyone tell... - British Liver Trust
Fibrosis
If it's caused by Fatty Liver, then you should definitely be able to reverse it. I went from 9.7 Fibroscan result to completely normal liver (shown by CT scan and biopsy).
My fibroscan score dropped from 12.1 to 6.0 as a result of weight loss. So you can improve it if it's the result of fatty liver.
Fibrosis is just connective tissue healing something that is damaged in the body. Fibrosis in the liver can lead to cirrhosis, which is the repetitive cycle of the liver trying to heal itself from reoccurring damage. Eventually the healing proteins can’t reach the tissue that needs to be healed because of the accumulation of the fibrosis scarring. That’s simplistic, but how my gastroenterologist explained it. If you identify and treat what ever is causing the damage it can heal and possibly reverse itself. Everyone’s body systems react differently due to age, lifestyle hereditary genetics etc. Try to not be scared. Do what’s in your control to help the liver heal. Diet , exercising not drinking alcohol etc. God Bless.
mine dropped from 12.7 to 2
Thanks doing all above have a fibro scan next month 🙏
