Ercp - upset stomach after eating four days later.

I had an ERCP procedure on Thursday to remove a stone from my bile duct.

This was said to be successful and the consultant noticed they spotted very dark bile sludge draining away.

Up until Thursday my bowel habits were normal. But since Friday lunch I have had an upset stomach after almost every meal and at some random times.

The stomach discomfort is declining is almost back to normal. Expect after food when I cramp and feel ill.

I have been eating a light diet in the main.

My biggest worry is my stool is very dark brown almost black. When I spoke to a nurse on Friday she said it was probably the bile draining out. But I'm really worried I might be bleeding internally as they had to cut my bile duct to get the stone out.

I've also lost about 2kg in a week. Any advice would be great as no one is about at the hospital as it's the weekend.

I had gallbladder issues about 3 months ago , took a good 4-5 weeks to return to normal.

Thanks did you have a similar procedure to me and symptoms?

Blocked duct , then infected , but left it alone , was very ill for about a week.

sorry to hear about the infection. Did it get better than worse again. After about a week of improvment I am sligthly more uncomftable again

I was up and down in hospital for a fortnight , no gallbladder issues just feeling awful , then got Norovirus before being discharged.

Hi cheltrobin2, I am due to have an ERCP tomorrow (14 Nov 23) and I understood they put a stent in to widen the bile duct opening to allow stones to pass through, rather than cut. If they actually cut your bile duct it is possible there was some bleeding but it may not reoccur…how are you now after three weeks? I must say I’m not looking forward to it. I’m sure I will gag strongly when the tube is inserted down my throat.
