Hi everyone sorry for my english , a message a Hope but some questions : i ve been diagnosticed 3 years ago with 10,2 kPa with fibrosis F2-f3 for heavy drinking , i m 44. The good News is last time my fibroscan was 6,5kpa , so f0f1 . I only drink an average consomption of 3 or 4 glass of wine a week ...... My Big fear is: over the last 30 Days , i had approximately 10 glass a week : since then i m so anxious that i can t sleep anymore, i stopped everything but now i m wondering if i ruined everything and if the fibrosis has increased ? Do you think it s possible in one month ? Thanks a lot

I very much doubt you've done much harm in one month but after having one warning with an earlier fibroscan score showing a degree of fibrosis you really need to be careful with your alcohol intake. Continuing down this path with a liver that doesn't like being attacked by booze will eventually lead to a situation where your liver really does take a severe battering - whilst the liver can repair itself it doesn't have a unending ability to do this and you could potentially get to a situation where it no longer can. You would be better reassessing your relationship with alcohol as your liver doesn't like it.

Thanks Katie , last time i saw a gastro spécialist he was more like "2 drinks a day max IS ok " but i think it s too much for me , mentally and physically .... I m just so afraid because of this month ...

I think 2 drinks per day is unwise if you already had some issues. You’re probably more vulnerable than “average.” So, I would set an appropriate lower limit. Daily drinking isn’t good for anyone. I’m convinced. Wish I would have known earlier. 🤷‍♀️

There isn’t any sense in worrying about what is already done. Just change what you can now. 🙂. You’ll be fine.

I love this advice. Just change what you can now. Stop drinking. I realized all my anxiety could have been eliminated if I’d just stuck with no alcohol when I last stopped for nearly a year. It can sneak back up on you with todays societal norm of regular and moderate-heavy consumption being typical or acceptable - even celebrated. Insane, it’s ethanol- it’s poison and the deadliest drug behind nicotine. You got this.

Mtseagirl , you re so right ,i ve noticed since my 3 years " journey" to moderate alcohol that each Time my anxiety was at its lower level it was when i was sober for several weeks . Maybe i have to make my mind and accept it s not for me anymore...IS it the same for u?

Hi Cedcerven. My understanding of alcohol consumption and the effects on the liver have a lot to do with concentration more so than duration meaning that 5 glasses in one day would be worse than 10 glasses ( less than 2 glasses a day for 7 days). If the liver is healthy enough to process the lower amount. Has something to do with liver producing to many proteins when it can’t handle the concentrated amount leading to more damage(I think). That being said, I had a doctor tell me in the hospital that one more drink for me could be detrimental. Of course I pushed the limit and am paying the consequences. Better now, but I know I can’t drink anymore not a drink in over 8 months and don’t miss it. Never really liked drinking alcohol anyway. Was self medicating. Hope all is well with you and that this helped

June Blue.

Yes my gastro told me not more than 2 Dks a day , but considering m'y fibroscan 10.2 kPa 3 years ago i assume i will Never have more than 2 or 3 Dks a week , it i too risky. IS there Anyone hère who had a Bad fibroscan, then managed to lower thé score ( liké me 6,5 kPa) and keeps a certain dégrée of consumption without having thé fibrosis getting higher ? It would help me not panicking for thé next month because i have another fibroscan in one month.... It would help me breathing
